About Us
Pathlight started as an idea between two nurse colleagues who wanted to utilize their combined years of experience in working with disabled individuals. Working closely with our clients' families allowed us to see the need for dedicated spaces where people with disabilities could engage themselves once they age out of school.
Our goal is to utilize the experiences and lessons we’ve gained to create something of value to our communities. A space where people are accepted for who they are, feel a sense of purpose, and where they can build lifelong friends - is what defines Pathlight.
Jack, co-Founder of Pathlight
Jack is a Registered Practical Nurse who has 11 years of experience working with kids with various disabilities. The idea of starting Pathlight came to him from conversations with parents whose kids have been in waiting lists for years.
Because of his experience in the community, home, and school settings, he knows the importance of helping to balance a client's life and helping them successfully navigate different environments (whether at home, at school, or in the community). This is done through careful planning of activities, taking into consideration the client's needs and also preferences.
The expertise that Jack brings to Pathlight is something that is greatly valued by all the families he’s worked with.
Cecilia, co-Founder of Pathlight
Also a Registered Practical Nurse, Cecilia has been working with disabled kids in the home setting for 6 years. Her work experience has taught her of the importance of regular socialization and helping clients engage in activities outside the home so they can live healthy, balanced lives.
She also recognizes family members' need for downtime so they can rest and have time for themselves. She believes day programs are a great benefit to both clients and families, and is now working with Jack to make these programs accessible to more people through Pathlight.
